Description

Painted and gilded wooden angel with outstretched wings, holding a pale shield that shows an intricate diagram of the Holy Trinity. The Latin words proclaim: Pater non est Filius (“The Father is not the Son”), Pater non est Spiritus (“The Father is not the Holy Spirit”), Filius non est Spiritus (“The Son is not the Spirit”), yet all three are Deus (“God”).

Condition

The figure is substantially intact and the principal form remains clearly legible. There is visible wear and loss to the painted decoration of the shield, particularly towards its lower part, and some wear to the gilding of the robe and wings. The painted facial features remain clear. Much of the lettering on the main shield is still visible, although parts are worn or difficult to read.
