Description
A carved wooden figure with dark, curling hair wears a blue-green robe with vertical folds, a contrasting collar and a round ornament at the throat. It holds a broad, pale scroll across its body, with one end curving upwards beside the head The scroll says (in English) “Pollute not my Temple”.
Condition
Substantial blue-green paint survives on the robe, interrupted by scattered losses exposing a pale or ochre underlying surface. The face, hair, collar and hands also show worn and missing paint. A large area of surface loss across the middle of the scroll interrupts its inscription, although lettering remains visible towards both ends. Small holes are visible on the torso and lower robe. The oblique angle and softness of the photograph limit assessment of fine cracks and carved detail.
