Description
A carved and painted half-length figure at the north edge of Bay PV3. It has a pale face, dark curled hair, a blue garment and hands holding a pointed pale shield. Faint dark marks survive on the shield, including small motifs near the top that resemble ermine tails, but the overall design is unclear.
Heraldry
Blazon: A full blazon cannot be recovered. A few small dark marks on the worn pale shield resemble ermine spots, but any principal charge and the original field are uncertain.
In plain English: The shield may have had a white background with the small black marks associated with ermine fur. Too little of the rest of its decoration survives to identify the coat of arms confidently. No family identification is proposed.
Condition
The head, garment, hands and shield survive. The face is worn and the shield has extensive abrasion and paint loss, including a long narrow split or joint running toward its point. The blue garment and the black-and-white beam pattern remain visible; the shield design is only fragmentary.
