Description
A frontal angel with curled hair and outspread wings holds a large shield against its body. A layered collar frames the head and shoulders. Decorative cresting runs behind the wings.
Heraldry
The shield has an uneven, worn surface, but no identifiable charges or colours are visible. It cannot be blazoned.
Condition
The head, body, shield and full span of the wings remain recognisable. Their surfaces are weathered, with little visible colour and reduced definition on the shield. The enhancement makes the carving easier to see, but its finer marks should be checked against the original photograph.
