Description
A stone corbel with a broad upper section and a tapering, shaped front face. Unlike the musician angels on the eastern corners of the bay, it has no readily recognisable human figure. A shallow outline follows the front face, with a small curled feature near the top and faint, irregular markings in the centre. These markings are too indistinct to identify confidently as a particular subject.
Condition
The corbel’s overall shape survives clearly, but any decoration on its front face is difficult to read. The surface is uneven and discoloured, with scattered pits, small losses and chipped edges. Dark streaks are visible on the adjoining wall below and beside it. The photograph alone cannot establish whether the indistinct central markings represent worn carving, traces of an earlier surface finish or later damage.
