Description
A frontal winged angel with shoulder-length dark hair, wearing a blue garment. Its broad wings retain carved feather detail and traces of gold or ochre colouring. The angel holds a pointed heraldic shield in front of the body.
Heraldry
Provisional blazon: Argent, a chevron Sable between two heads in chief and a cinquefoil in base, all Sable.
In plain English: A black chevron on a white field, with two black heads above it and a black five-petalled flower below. The precise character of the two upper charges is uncertain.
Condition
This is one of the better-preserved figures in the group. Considerable blue paint survives on the garment, while the wings retain both carved detail and traces of colour. The face is worn, particularly around the nose and mouth. The shield remains clearly legible in its broad arrangement, although the smaller charges are abraded and difficult to interpret.
