Description
Winged angel on the north side of NA4, holding a heraldic shield. The figure has outstretched wings, a frontal head and torso, and traces of painted decoration.
Heraldry
The shield is quartered. Lions are visible in several quarters, while one quarter appears to contain a fret. The surviving detail does not permit a secure blazon or identification.
In plain English: The shield is divided into four sections and combines lions with a pattern of interlaced diagonal bands.
Condition
The carving appears substantially intact, including the head, torso, wings and shield. Painted decoration survives on the clothing and shield, but the surface is darkened and worn, and some heraldic details are difficult to distinguish.
