Description
A half-length painted figure at the south edge of Bay PV2. It has a dark rounded hairstyle, a blue garment and hands on either side of a large pointed shield. The shield is pale and badly weathered, with faint vertical and curved traces that do not form a confidently readable device.
Heraldry
Blazon: No reliable blazon can be recovered from the present photograph. A pale ground survives, together with faint lines and patches of darker colour, but neither the original tinctures nor the charges are securely identifiable.
In plain English: The shield was once decorated, but its paint is too worn to tell what the coat of arms was. No family identification is proposed.
Condition
The head, torso, hands and shield appear substantially intact. The shield has extensive paint loss, abrasion, staining and a vertical crack through its central area. The face also shows paint wear, especially around the nose and mouth. Blue survives on the garment and the surrounding beam decoration remains visible.
