Description
A carved wooden angel with short, curling dark hair and spread feathered wings holds a shield in both hands. The robe retains muted grey-green colour, with blue around the neckline and scattered pale and ochre patches. The shield has a worn pale surface bearing fragments of dark painted markings, with red along its sides. Above the head, paired carved forms resemble hanging drapery arranged around a central vertical moulding.
Condition
Extensive paint loss affects the face, hair, robe, hands and shield. Both wings show pronounced cracks and separations across the feather carving, together with chipped edges and visible circular fixing points. The shield has lost a substantial piece from its lower edge, leaving a deep notch; its remaining painted markings are fragmentary and difficult to interpret. The ornament above the head is worn, with cracks and small surface losses.
