Description
A carved and painted half-length angel with outspread wings, shoulder-length dark hair and an upward gaze. The figure wears a dark green garment or mantle and holds a pointed shield before the body. The wings retain muted ochre, red and brown colouring. The shield has a pale field scattered with black ermine-like marks and is crossed by a broad red saltire.

In plain English: A white or silver field scattered with black ermine spots, bearing a broad red diagonal cross.
The principal design is clearly legible despite surface wear. No identification is proposed.
Condition
The carving is substantially complete, including both wings, hands and shield. The surface shows widespread abrasion, small holes and losses, with heavier wear on the face and lower shield. Much of the original polychromy survives sufficiently to make the heraldic design clear, although the pale field and individual ermine marks are uneven and locally fragmentary. The wing feathers remain well defined but their painted finish is faded and worn.
